How do you all feel about a Capsule Wardrobe??
I pretty much already do this but still with a closet full of clothes just in case I however also where dress clothes 5 days a week for at least half a day so I am working on how to make myself look good but yet with less. SO my main clothes consist of the colors of Navy and Black and lots of Black. Black was a uniform in one of my salons and well I just fell in love and hardly can't handle color.
So I have 4 Navy t-shirts and 4 Black t-shirts all of the same brand and well I love the comfort of them then I have two pairs of Jeans and 4 skirts with a few extra shirts for dress up and then a ton of other clothes that I don't wear but keep just in case. I have 3 dress 1 is a little black dress and a summer dress and then just a casual dress.
Then I have workout clothes I truly haven't worn in about 7years and then pajamas and swim wear and more so I am slowly decluttering all of that its in the bottom of my closet so I can make sure I don't need anything in the next month then I will bag it and haul it to goodwill. I still have to go through some of the shirts I have been saving for just in case.
I will post a pic for it at a later time.
Shoes I have a pair of dress boots, short dress boots and dress shoes then I have like four pair of summer heals then I have my beloved birkenstocks I have four pairs of those then I have my tennis shoes and an older pair of tennis shoes as well. I have Sorel Snow Boots for the year we have snow. and of course flip flops for the summer water days. My plan is to pair these down as well. Some will be a must keep as we do live in a four season climate and really can t get away from that completely.
SO this is my wardrobe and soon to be a capsule wardrobe as we go.
I will keep you posted to how this goes. Now to just get started and finish these projects of mine......to be continued.

Goals
Bare with me as I am not a writer whatsoever.
Goals are something I continue to always think about but some how never achieve and I am not sure why that is or how I can come about to start achieving them. I have had goals to achieve a lifestyle for some years now since I was 16/17 years old I however did not know what that movement inside me was or if it was even a possibility to be able to achieve this but this desire has continued to burn inside me down to even this day. I finally understood what that desire was one spring day back in 2009 while I was sitting in my salon where I worked waiting on the next client to come in while I was thumbing through Magazines seeing if there was anything interesting to read when I came across the article Back to Basics: Living with Voluntary Simplicity. As I read this article I started to understand what had been burning inside me and that their was actually a name to it this burning, Now mind you this was the beginning of what now is a trend nation wide actually world wide now. Nine years ago I was living small 500 sq ft and well now I am in a 1400 sq ft home I have made some goals for myself for 2018 My GOAL is to have my personal belongings fit in a carry on suitcase this will be my clothes and toiletries small things like my laptop and charging devices and including my jewelry.
Then to make my house a rental airbnb or something of that nature so the things in my home serve a purpose and that I am not attached and that they could easily be sold if need be with this meaning that each item is in it for a reason.
Then my goal for the garage items are to be no storage of anything but outdoor/seasonal recreational items if they are a household item it needs to be dealt with.
My home is brand new we just moved in in OCT 2017 and so therefore I have not brought anything in that I knew I didn't want in it so its setup fairly well I need to adjust my kitchen things a bit but that will come and then my 14 year olds room and things will need to be adjusted so I am working on that as she has no desire to be a minimalist like me and then well my husband mainly has clothes and then tools in the garage which are minimal as well. I am hoping with making this verbal and in print you all will help hold me accountable. I will take before and after photos of each of these steps.
So here is some of whats in my mind and head I have dreams of some of what I want my home to look like while I am still attached to it.
I will figure out how to get pictures added at some point.
Thank you for following my dreams and listening to my heart.

Day Dreaming
I often day dream that I have sold everything I own with the exception of a small travel size or carry on suitcase and 1 personal item and I am traveling the world.. I wonder how many others do this? As this has been my dream since I was 16 years old and I just can't seem to let go of it I am the most free when I am away from home even just up town doing errands I feel like I have not a care in the world and then I walk into the home in which we live and I see all the things that I do love and I do want comfort but I am going crazy with the things I have so I am continuing to simplify since we have been living in what all we have is our clothes and our bed and a few personal things to maintain the happier I have been but then I see the pile in our garage which I will show you the photo and I mentioned to you in a earlier post what is most of it.
SO my future goal is that when we move nothing is coming into the house except the absolute basics and then if I truly need something and I dig it out from the pile then I will keep it other wise it is going to the give away pile and donated.
SO how many of you dream the way I do in hopes to sell everything you own? I wanna hear from you!!!

Question...... for you ....
How long have you been minimalist and was it a slow process until you met your goals?

Emergency Bag
Hello all the past few days I have been working trying to redo our emergency kits and making sure our to go back packs are up to date and have all the necessary things we may need. The reason for this being as we have had a lot of FIRES in Oregon where we live and have had a lot of people we know evacuated and then with Hurricane Harvey we have seen so many inTexas displaced and left with nothing. So we have revisited the need to make sure all these things are up to date and have the essential basics in case we have to Evacuate and not wait till we are in the 1. Get Ready 2. Get Set & 3. Go!! Stages of being evacuated. The other reason being was we had stuff in our travel trailer at one point and we no longer own that as we have simplified our lives a bit.
I added a picture of a couple of our bags (we purchased from Costco and then added xtra stuff to its) to show you what we have chosen to do now. If you haven't chosen to do a Go Bag I would love to see some of you use a back pack, these bags from Costco have 3 days of emergency supplies in them including food and some water and cards Poncho and cook stove and matches and first aid kit and a few more things! I added a blanket and head lamps and flashlight and some tools, knives, gloves and toothbrush and wipes and deodorant, medicine, important papers. I also added a change of clothes.
If you have any questions please let me know if you need anything I will answer any questions you have. Just our little go packs!

Been a While
Sorry its been a while.
Lots of life has happened while I have been away. I got really sick and I am still dealing with the health issues but I am always thinking and searching simplicity and chasing after it. Trying to find ways to make my life this, it is hard with a family and now my daughter is 14 and completely the opposite of me and well she loves simple but yet loves being a girly girl with lots of clothes and well thats just her life but we are going to be moving again we have been in a 2000 square foot house to a 1200 square foot to right as of now in two bedrooms with all our stuff in the garage of my parents home which they have 1500 sq ft and let just say I am still always trying to accomplish having less some days are harder than others but I seriously am striving to be at that I could live with a travel size carry on and be completely free. However at this time I still have a family and well Husband is not on board with that while we still have a child at home. In the next few months we will be moving as we are buying our first home where we live and moving to a 1400 Sq ft home Im truly not looking forward to the space but I plan to utilize it to the best of simplicity that I can we are going to be renting it out with Airbnb so we shall see how this all works as when we move in we will be limiting what goes in and it will be decorated in a travel theme world map and globe and very rustic as to no carpet and making it very simplistic what doesn't go in the house in the first few months from the garage will be gotten rid and donated or sold.
I truly can't wait for this process to happen as just seeing our pile of stuff and wondering what we truly will need for the new house was daunting so I kept a lot of what I would have sold and trust me I did sell quite a lot a ton of furniture left our house some of the big ticket items that sold were two couches a recliner a bar and bench and barstools and our kitchen table and chairs, and some shelving honestly beside kitchen stuff and and a few furniture pieces like coffee table and shelfs and two end tables our stuff is mostly outdoor recreation things like paddle board and paddle, snowboards and the gear, river floats, volleyball net and baseball gloves and things our family enjoys doing outdoors, our jeep gear like the top and the doors and then tools my husband is a contractor so there is not a ton most are kept on his truck but a few things always stay in the garage. Then their is the daughters games and my work stuff I do Nail by trade and then a few totes of books and photos and then the paperwork from my husbands business ugh the worst part is we have to keep at least 5 years. My washer and dryer which is the one thing if I have a house I never want to part with I hate laundry mats with a purple passion.
So now as I sit here using very little of this stuff I wonder what I can really do without!!!
Now I am working on less and to each one of us our journey for less is different depending on our circumstances and we just need to figure out what that exactly is...So I am welcoming you to follow my journey on what is less to me I am hoping to continue to downsize. See you on the next Blog Post
